Depending on the model, Buttonhole Foot with Slide #3A determines the desired buttonhole length for identical buttonholes either via a sensor or manually.
Open Embroidery Foot #20C is ideal for embroidering with your sewing machine. The indentation in the sole of the presser foot allows it to glide smoothly over dense stitches.
Thanks to its special tear-drop shape, Drop-Shaped Embroidery Foot #26 allows you to embroider with the embroidery module and to darn delicate fabrics.
Extend your sewing surface with the Slide-on Table to support your large projects. Easily remove it when using only the free arm is desired, such as for sewing small tubular projects.
The Knee lifter/Free-Hand System (FHS) lets you raise the presser foot and lower the feed dog with your knee. Recommended particularly for appliqué or any project requiring pivoting and getting bulky projects under the presser foot easily.
The Touchscreen Pen – ideal for working on the touch screens on BERNINA sewing and embroidery computers. Operate the touch screen by gently tapping it.
The practical Accessory Box can be used to store all Sewing Accessories, such as Presser Feet, Needles and Bobbins. The Accessory Box is supplied without contents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Place tear-away stabilizer underneath the fabric to stabilize it and carefully remove it once you have sewn the stitches.
Embroidery requires increased lower thread tension. Therefore the 'extra tensioner' of the hook must be threaded to provide the required additional tension. Refer to 'Preparation Embroidery/ Threading the Lower Thread' chapter in the user manual and/or the video at www.Bernina8Series.com. Tip: Use the special mirror provided to check for correct threading.
We recommend to calibrate the hoop after each updating of the machine. When embroidering with the Jumbo Hoop, calibrate it for each project, having the material hooped.
It is relevant when using two upper threads. When using a twin needle, one thread must be guided to the front of the disc and one to the back of the disc. When using three threads, the two threads which are guided through on the same side must be of the same thickness.
The maximum number of stitches is 300,000 and 128 colour changes for transfer via USB cable. Storing to a USB stick is dependant upon the memory capacity of the stick.
The thread brand can affect the stitching result. We recommend:- to reduce the upper thread tension- to reduce the speed- to slide the net from the accessories over the thread spool.Check also the websites of the respective thread brand manufacturers. They provide tips and tricks. It might be of help to guide the thread under the 'lug' behind the thread clamp when applying 'Automatic Threading'.
On the screen, select 'Balance', then the Balance function for BERNINA Dual Feed. 'Balance' is used to fine-tune the feeding of the upper fabric layer compared to the lower layer. Refer to 'Balance/Fabric Feed' chapter in the user manual.
Touch the 'Thread tension' symbol on the screen to open the thread tension screen and to set the thread tension using the stitch length and stitch width knobs. Refer to 'Thread tension' chapter in the user manual.
The first displayed time (in 'Edit' screen) gives the approximate stitching time. After confirming the programming, the real stitching time is displayed. The stitching time changes depending on the stitching speed.
Jump-/connecting stitches of over 6mm length in programmed stitching will be cut automatically. Excluded are "Tassel"-embroidery designs i.e. No.57, which have their own control and do not cut the wanted jump stitches.
In the 'Edit' screen, select any spot within the embroidery design with the touch pen. The hoop will move so that the needle will sit just above the selected spot. The hoop must be attached for this. This way any position in the design can be targeted. Refer to 'Embroidery/ Combined with Functions' chapter in the user manual.'CHECK' has been replaced with 'Virtual Positioning'. Take care that 'Motif Center' is not activated when using 'Virtual Positioning'.
1) If the thread can be seen at the needle, pull it out from there.
2) If the thread cannot be seen, remove the service cover, and remove the thread from this area.
3) Cutting the thread at the spool may be necessary to remove the thread from the machine.Refer to 'Troubleshooting' chapter in the user manual.
In the 'Edit' screen, select any spot within the embroidery design with the touch pen. The attached hoop will move so that the needle will sit just above the selected spot. This way any position in the design can be targeted. Refer to 'Embroidery/Combined with Functions' chapter in the user manual.
For this, use 'Write to machine' function in a compatible version of BERNINA's embroidery software, sending the design via cable or via USB stick (storing it on the stick first, then using the stick on the machine).
A size 70 needle.
Yes, that's possible, but not recommended as the stitching result is not optimal in many cases. The opening at the back of the "D"-feet keep the foot from sitting on the center row of feed teeth when the Dual Feed is not engaged.
In Setup, select the 'Troubleshooting and Maintenance' Icon, and remove the Stitch Plate.Press the #1 button on-screen and clean the thread remnants from the extended cutter using the tweezers and/or brush.Press the #3 button to set the cutter in its normal position.
The thread brand can affect the stitching result. We recommend:- to reduce the upper thread tension- to reduce the speed- to slide the net from the accessories over the thread spool- to use a 'metafil' needle.Check also the websites of the respective thread brand manufacturers. They provide tips and tricks.
Perhaps the designs weren't stored in .exp format. Embroidery designs of other file formats don't appear. Use 'Write to Embroidery Computer' when sending a design from any of the compatible BERNINA embroidery software products. This ensures that the design will be stored in the correct format.
